Abstract

The purpose of this project was to begin an investigation of certain physiological aspects of altitude, particulary those concerned with animal metabolism and possible metabolic differences associated with altitude. Of the ways in which this could be studied, two seemed to lend themselves best to the problem, (1) exposure of the same animal or group of animals to various altitudes and (2) measurements on different populations of the same or closely related species of animals which are distributed over a range of altitudes. Project Number 79.
